How to Buy Veritaseum: Purchase and Storage Walkthrough

Veritaseum is a blockchain-based fintech software that offers access to the peer-to-peer capital market using a decentralized platform. It was developed in 2013 by Reggie Middleton. It has had an interesting history but there has been some discussion about some new features so if you’re interested in how to buy Veritaseum and store this coin this article is for you.

The only exchange that offers the coin is Mercatox. Start with going to Mercatox.com and setting up an account. KYC or Know Your Customer is optional as long as you don’t plan to withdraw more than 1 Bitcoin worth of crypto or cash.

Once you go through the process of opening an account, click on “E-Wallet” in the top left part of the screen.

This will list different cryptocurrencies that you can send to the exchange for trading. For trading VERI there are only two pairs available, BTC or ETH. You’ll want to determine how much VERI you want to buy and then send that amount to Mercatox in the form of BTC or ETH.

To send BTC or ETH to Mercatox, click on “Deposit” next to the coin you want to send.

A screen will pop up with a BTC address. Click the clipboard next to the address to copy the address.

Once you have the address copied, go to your BTC wallet and click on the “Send” Button. Paste the wallet address from Mercatox, fill out how much you want to send, verify the address is correct, and then send the BTC.

Once the BTC is received by Mercatox you’ll be able to trade.

Click on the Trade button at the top of the screen.

On the right side of the screen you’ll see a place to search for coins. Click on the Search bar and Type “VERI”.

Click on the pair you want to use. I will use BTC for this article.

You’ll see a screen like this:

From here, click on your amount of BTC under the bold “BUY VERI” area. This will autofill the amounts using all available BTC. You can then click “BUY”. If you don’t want to use all your BTC, or you want to do a Market order, you can fill the details in yourself.

Where to Store Veritaseum

To withdraw your VERI, you’ll need any wallet that can hold ERC-20 tokens, like Trust Wallet or MetaMask or Exodus

Steps for getting your wallet ready.

  1. Find VERI by searching or importing it.
  2. If using Metamask, you need to import the token to see it. To do this, scroll down to the bottom of your token list, click “Import Tokens” then click “Custom Token”  and then paste this address into the “Token Contract Address” Box : 0x8f3470A7388c05eE4e7AF3d01D8C722b0FF52374

Then click “Add Custom Token”

  1. Find your public wallet address. This is usually displayed after clicking the “Receive” button. On Metamask you can simply click the wallet address at the top of the wallet and it will automatically copy the address.

Once your wallet is ready, go back to Mercatox. You should be in the E-Wallet Screen still. Next to VERI, click the green “Withdraw” Button.

When you see the above screen, paste your wallet address into the first box, then put in how much VERI you want to withdraw. Then click Submit. Within a few minutes, your VERI should show up in your wallet.

To keep your VERI safe, be sure to never share your private keys or 12-word seed phrase with anyone.

If you need to sell your VERI you’ll need to send it back to Mercatox and trade it to BTC or ETH, then withdraw that to an off-ramp like Gemini or Coinbase.
